Redefining God
Coming Full Circle
The book traces the evolution of ideas about God starting with the ancient civilizations of India, Greece, China, Egypt and Sumer. The transition from these ancient traditions to the Abrahamic religions represents a transition from the Age of Wonder to the Age of Belief a process that would dominate the western world for 1400 years. With the coming of the European Renaissance, radically new ideas about rational explanations for religious beliefs were being attempted. This Age of Reason culminated in the Scientific Age. In traversing the last 5 millennia our ideas have in many ways come full circle. Our modern definition of God in many ways resembles the definition of God proposed by our earliest ancestors.
